At Preseem, we’re always looking to improve our predictive capabilities. One feature operators love is our Access Point Subscriber Capacity number in the Plus tier. It takes local conditions into account, as well as the typical behavior of a subscriber during the ISP’s Peak Busy Hour, and returns a number that is a reasonable estimate of how much capacity remains expressed as subscribers. 

The Subscriber Capacity prediction has proven to be accurate for busier APs. However, for an idle AP with only one or two subscribers, it’s harder to predict precisely how much capacity more subscribers would use.

We’ve released an improvement to the underlying algorithm, specifically targeting APs that don’t have much usage. Simplified, APs that are idle will have their predictions calibrated using the AP behavior model collected across all Preseem customers.

As the AP grows busier over time, we rely increasingly on local conditions—a blended, continuous curve requiring no hand-tuning. With this new algorithm in place, Preseem customers can more accurately understand the subscriber capacity of their entire network for busy APs and new ones with few subscribers.

To recap, we’re improving Available Subscriber Capacity values to be more accurate on idle APs, helping you find more areas of your network with capacity to sell. This benefits sales and marketing, allowing overall network capacity calculations to be hyper-targeted and precise, increasing your operational efficiency!
